About

Helen Collard is an artist interested in the relationships between the mind/body dynamic, sound and technology. Her work utilises techniques and philosophies from her own mind/body/breath practices which are expanded through the creative use of technology, biofeedback, and sound to generate and explore listening environments and experiences. Helen’s work is presented through performance, interactive installations, film and sound works. She is a member of the improvisation performance group Ocells al Cap (Birds in the Head) and has shown work at The Cistern, Bòlit Centre for Contemporary Art (Girona, Spain), ISEA–International Symposium of Electronic Art (Manizales, Colombia), BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Newcastle, UK) and The Barbican (London, UK). Helen holds a PhD in Communication Design, titled “Finding Prana: digital and performative experiments in Search of a Technology of the Self ”. She has also published her research in Ubiquity – The Journal of Pervasive Media.
